We are delighted and privileged to bring to you a very special presentation for our first face to face FOCUS event since lock down. Julie-Ann is the recipient of a heart transplant and Dr Alison Smyth is her cardiologist. They will share their experiences both as a patient and as a heart specialist.
| Julie-Ann Morris “I am Julie-Ann I am a Senior Underwriter with Royal London. At the age of 19 I was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy following family screening. In 2016 at the age of 39 I was diagnosed with end stage heart failure and in February 2018 I was fortunate enough to receive a lifesaving transplant. My presentation will be a light hearted (excuse the pun) rendition about my personal experience with heart failure and transplant.” | Dr Alison Smyth Alison hails originally from Belfast and completed her medical training at Queen’s University in 2007. She completed specialty training in cardiology in Belfast. With a keen interest in heart failure, she moved to Glasgow in 2017 to complete a one year fellowship in “Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Transplantation” and never left! Alison is a speciality doctor with the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service. Since her move to Scotland, she has taken up running and spends most weekends chasing a new Parkrun PB. |
