A Scottish Theme night

We were delighted to invite and receive colleagues who joined us at this special FOCUS event. It took place on the 20th January 2011 in the Auditorium of the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh.

Presentations – We examined the effects on Claims and Underwriting for the current economic conditions.  In particular, the Coalition Government are suggesting several changes to the welfare benefits system which may impact on claims management, particularly disability claims. Louise Ockenden and Sean White from Swiss Re Claims and Underwriting, provided a brief overview of the recent changes and the challenges that may be around the corner. They also considered the wider impact of the current economic climate and asked what underwriters can do to help their claims teams and recognise the early warning signs for “high risk” business.

Presentation slides to follow…

Dinner and entertainment was a Scottish theme for the evening. There was a sit down burns style supper, a piper, a grace to the haggis and a celidh band.

The venue was the beautifully restored main Auditorium located on the first floor at the Ghillie Dhu, a breathtaking architectural setting. The stunning vaulted ceiling and floor length windows of the auditorium made for a unique space, ideal for this event.

The evening was well received and enjoyed by everyone and the presentations were valued by all. Turnout was again fantastic and many numbers were still there after midnight !

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the event.
